Adult Volunteers are 18 years of age and older.

VIRTUS® Portal

The Diocese of St. Augustine (DOSA) implemented a paperless process, via the VIRTUS® Portal, for all your Safe Environment information, including your PGC attendance and Background Check (BC)/Livescan (fingerprinting) status.

Every individual is responsible for the maintenance of his/her own safe environment information. In order to do so, you must have a VIRTUS® account.

In order to register (create a new account) or update your existing account (returning user), click this link to the DOSA VIRTUS®/Protecting God's Children Training Overview web page.

Read/Print Instructions - Scroll to the bottom of the web page and click the appropriate VIRTUS® Quick Link to read and/or print (recommended) the instructions you will need.

• If you are registering with VIRTUS® for the first time (i.e., creating an account), read/print Instructions for New Users.
• If you already have a VIRTUS® account, which is likely for anyone that has registered for a PGC class in the past, read/print Instructions for Returning Users.
  • Follow the directions for recovering your User Id and/or Password if you don't remember what these are. DO NOT create a new account as this will introduce duplicates into the system, none of which will contain complete information.
  • If you do not remember whether you have an account, please contact the St. Joseph's Safe Environment Coordinator listed at the bottom.
• If this is the first time you are having a BC/Livescan done or you need to renew it, read/print the document Livescan Instructions.

Create/Update your VIRTUS® account - Scroll to the middle of the DOSA VIRTUS®/Protecting God's Children Training Overview web page.
Click the appropriate link to enter the VIRTUS® Portal:

• First time Registrants (Adults 18 and older), or
• Returning Users 
• At the VIRTUS® website, walk through and complete all the information requested or make any updates, including electronically signing any required documents.
• Make sure you enter/update your name. You must use your legal name, exactly as it appears on your driver's license or other government-issued card.
• It is important that you enter an accurate address, phone number and email address.
• Add/Update the roles and diocesan entities (parish, school, etc.) you serve.
  • Remove any roles/entities that are no longer valid.
  • Add any new roles/entities. If there are more than one, select one as your Primary. 
  • When selecting a location for roles in our parish ministries, please select St. Joseph Parish (Jacksonville).
  • Make sure to Save your changes and, when ready to exit the portal, Logout . If you do not do this, the information you entered may be lost.

Training

• Protecting God's Children 4.0 (PGC) Training for Adults
  • If you have previously taken PGC training, that information should be available in your account. EFFECTIVE JULY 2022, you will also be required to take the A Plan to Protect God's Children 4.0 online module through VIRTUS® every five (5) years from the date of your last PGC training.
  • If you have not attended a PGC class in the past, register for one through the VIRTUS® portal. This is a live, in-person class.

Background Check/Fingerprinting (BC/Livescan)

• Make sure you have entered/updated your VIRTUS® account per the instructions above.
• If you have had a BC/Livescan done in the past, it is possible that you may not see that formation in your account. The Diocese is still working on getting this information uploaded.
• If this is the first time you are having a BC/Livescan done or you need to renew it, go to the Fieldprint website specified in the Livescan Instructions document (see above). Follow the instructions when completing the questionnaire.
