When is the new building going to be built?

Our new building was recently completed and will be dedicated on April 20th at 2pm.  It will hose our Clothes Closet, our Life Skills Office and a multipurpose room

How can I help?

For more information about how you can help the Food Bank, please see the How You Can Help section of our webpage. There you can find information on donating and volunteering. Further, please see the Needed Items section of our webpage. It is frequently updated with the items that the Food Bank is running low on, as well as any information we have about where these items can be found on sale or at reduced rates.

What is the best time to drop off a donation?

All donations can be dropped off in our new donation garage.  The door to this  area will be open all day everyday. We would like to keep our front porch free of all donations to make it safe for clients and volunteers.  If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make checks payable to : Mandarin Food Bank  11730 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32258

I heard that the Food Bank needs coupons from the Sunday paper?

Yes! There are two or more coupon inserts in the Sunday paper each week (in the glossy section). If you wish to donate yours, drop them off at the Food Bank or leave them in the Food Bank Box in the Gathering Area of St. Joseph’s Church.

We have a dedicated volunteer who sorts through the coupons in order to find those that the Food Bank can use in bulk to purchase large amounts of needed items. We can save hundreds of dollars every week using these coupons.

We have an annual family reunion coming up and there is always leftover food; can the Food Bank accept this food as a donation?

Yes, as long as we are notified before the food is broken down at the event. We would need to instruct someone attending the event how to prepare and transport the food or arrange for a volunteer to pick it up. We suggest calling the week ahead to make us aware that there may be leftover food you are interested in donating.

I see prepared bags of food for people to purchase for donation to food banks at local grocery stores. Does that food come to the Mandarin Food Bank?

Yes, Publix (Old St. Augustine Road and San Jose Blvd. locations) prepare these bags and a food bank volunteer picks them up on a regular basis. These bags are very helpful to us.  We are very grateful for Publix participation in this project.

Can you give me information on fundraising for the Food Bank?

We have a very busy and active fundraising committee. For information on current fundraising events, watch the Food Bank News section of our webpage. Any current fundraisers would be announced on that page.

For information on assisting with fundraisers, please inquire into volunteering on the How You Can Help section of our webpage. Potential volunteers can request to assist with fundraising.

Does the Mandarin Food Bank receive the donations made to the Postal Workers’ Food Drive?

No, all of the Food Donated to the Postal Workers’ Food Drive goes to Lutheran Social Services’ Second Harvest.
